Yogihood is a group of Yoga Alliance accredited teachers united by our love for yoga and dedicated to creating classes that assist students in deepening their mind-body connection. Our  lovely studio is a place for all. We welcome all bodies and all abilities, whether you are a beginner or an experienced student.

Pia Tedeschi is the owner and founder of yogihood. Pia is passionate about many things but at the  top of her list is yoga. She has been on a mat from her pre-teens when her mom would schlep her along to class as a kid. From those early days, to countless classes across different teachers and  teacher training, her love for this ancient practice and the feeling of deep freedom and connection it  brings her, has brought her to this point of opening up a place where teachers have a space to share their love for the practice of yoga in a way that is unique to them with other people whom find  their way to yogihood.

We’ve heard this a zillion times before! Being the least flexible person in the entire world or the human with the tightest hamstrings is one of the best reasons to join yogihood! Please don’t worry if you can’t touch your toes or balance on one foot – flexibility and balance (plus so much more) will  come with time and practice. Guaranteed

Clothing that is easy to move in, feels comfortable and is appropriate for the shared space is best.  Breathable materials that are designed for fitness and will dry quickly are preferable. Check that  material is opaque as we spend a fair amount of time with our tooshies in the air.

Stuff happens – we know! But unfortunately, latecomers will not be allowed to join once class has started. Every class starts and ends on time to help provide a safe, peaceful and positive  experience for all.

Being overweight often involves underlying conditions like stress, anxiety, hormonal imbalances aroma depression and sleeping disorders. Beyond burning calories, yoga works on underlying causes of weight gain by enhancing self-love and awareness.
Stress leads to an increase in the cortisol hormone, which increases abdominal fat, decreases muscle mass and induces the craving for fat and sugar-rich food, which makes positive lifestyle choices more difficult to follow through with. Through regular practice of yoga, a deeper knowing of what your body needs is created as the mind and body move toward greater balance and harmony.

Yoga exercises involve stretching and relaxing of muscles which cause physical and mental exertion resulting in more deep sleep, less sleep disturbances, and better sleep efficiency. As stress is reduced through yoga practise, breath-work and meditation, an ability to rest is cultivated and sleep quality improves.

Since each injury is different it is important for you to get an individual assessment with your  advising doctor before starting or continuing to practice yoga with an injury. Furthermore, it is  important to share this information with the your yoga teacher before the class so adjustments to  certain asanas can be offered. Always listen to your body.
